My homegirl and I took the hand building clay class one Friday evening recently and had THE BEST time! Our instructor, Lilly/Lillian/Lilliana, was very friendly and helpful; she walked around helping and checking on us throughout the class. I definitely want to go back and take the series 4-5 week class…after I cut these nails lol. I can’t wait to go back!

Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled at check-in completely soured the night. I accidentally purchased one ticket instead of two. I fully understand that this was my mistake, and I wasn’t expecting special treatment or exceptions. That said, the tone and demeanor of the staff at the front desk were unnecessarily condescending. There were four staff members present, and instead of being welcoming or even neutral, the interaction felt dismissive and borderline mean-spirited. As a first-time guest, it was uncomfortable and honestly embarrassing. For a $120 ticket, I expected a higher level of hospitality and professionalism—especially for an event centered around connection and celebration. Mistakes happen, and how they’re handled matters. A little warmth or grace would have gone a long way here. I’m sharing this feedback not because of the ticket issue itself, but because of how the situation was handled. The experience made me feel unwelcome, and that’s disappointing.

Highly recommend! If you’re looking for something fun to do with your friends or S/O, this is the place. Went to a clay night and had a blast. The vibe was great and the instructors were so helpful and nice. My piece turned out even better than I expected! I wanted more of this in my life, so I signed up for a handbuilding session with Maya. She was so generous with her expertise, and I enjoyed chumming it up with my session mates. I was so happy with my session pieces, I just had to have more so I joined the studio as a member. Anytime I need to decompress, I’m here. The community is great, and I’ve made lots of new friends. I plan on taking more sessions to learn new skills, like wheel throwing. This is my happy place and a third space I turn to every week.

The experience was very nice. There’s a meditation before and the woman and her husband who showed us the techniques for hand building were friendly and fun. However, the website says to allow up to four weeks for our pottery to be finished which is fine except after four I called and the woman I spoke to said “if you haven’t gotten a text then it’s not ready”. When I told her it had been four weeks she was surprised and changed her tone stating that sometimes it can be four to five weeks. I was not notified that our pottery was ready until week six and that we only had that week to pick it up because they were closing for the month of September which I only knew because I follow them on Instagram. This is unfortunate because the experience was nice but this business needs some organization and better customer service.

Pottery for the People is the BEST studio and community of potters to join! I started with a 5 week handbuilding session and learned so much from the instructor - Lillian. I signed up for a second 5 week session and saw improvements from my first class! Every instructor/employee at P4TP knows sooo much about ceramics and they're always open to thinking through an idea with you, providing tips/guidance, and showing you how to use new tools or materials. If you're looking for a new hobby - this is it!
