I had an amazing experience at Oak Cliff Pottery! The instructor James, is a true artist! You can genuinely tell he loves what he does. His passion really comes through in the way he teaches and guides you, and it doesn’t feel like “just a business” at all.
I’ve been to another pottery location before and left with pieces that only my mom would love 😅 but that was definitely not the case here. James was incredibly hands-on, patient, and detail-oriented with his instructions, which made a huge difference. By the end of the class I felt genuinely proud of what I crafted. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to try pottery or improve their skills!
My partner and I decided to celebrate our anniversary at Oak Cliff Pottery, and it was one of the best date experiences we’ve had in Dallas. The studio was welcoming, relaxing, and perfect for creating something meaningful together. The instructor was so kind, patient, knowledgeable, and made the pottery wheel experience fun even for complete beginners.

We left with great memories, learned a new skill, and can’t wait to come back. I took my first pottery class with Oak cliff Pottery and absolutely loved it. Such a great experience. I've always wanted to do pottery so it's safe to say I checked one thing off of my bucket list. James, the instructor, was so patient and helpful. He provided good instruction and redirection. Pottery is definitely harder than I thought, but I will definitely be back!

James is a master potter in the North Carolina tradition having apprenticed with Mark Hewitt with an international flair from his time in Tanzania. He generously gave me a tour of his gallery and work space and we all anxiously await the first firing of his under construction gas kiln! I was honored to purchase one of James’s lovely tea cups (with a proper foot!) and a traditional African cooking pot from Tanzania. I couldn’t resist also getting a mini replica cooking pot made by James and his daughter and two of the therapeutic porcelain stars.

I took my mom and niece to a pottery lesson for Mother's Day, and it was absolutely wonderful! We had such a great time creating cute pieces together. Our instructor was phenomenal, sharing amazing stories from his travels and his pottery journey. The class was fun and interactive, making it perfect for any occasion!!! Date night, night out with friends, team building or family events. This experience was truly special for us, creating beautiful memories ever since my sister past last year. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy a creative day out!
